How to protect your Facility from Corrosion

A lot of your facility’s machines, tools, and accessories may be made of metal and are susceptible to corrosion. If you wish to reduce the chances of corrosion in your facility, try to make even small changes such as:

  • Sealing the tools. You need to protect your tools from moisture. You can do this by keeping them in a sealed, plastic tool chest or adding moisture absorbent to keep the chest conditions dr.
  • Using a corrosion inhibitor. Cold corrosion inhibitors have made galvanizing easier. You can apply them like paint but they have the same protection as heated galvanizing done on galvanized products.
  • Dehumidifying. Moisture develops in humid environments and placing your tools in these environments can expose them to the corrosive element. Consider installing a dehumidifier if your shop is in a humid area. The equipment will reduce the possibility of rust development in your facility.
  • Keeping the facility and tools clean. A facility with plenty of dust will have a greater chance of being corroded. Dust tends to absorb water. Thus, the more dust particles on your tools, the more water that could come into contact with their metal surfaces, promoting corrosion. Therefore, ensure you keep your tools and your facility in general clean and dust-free.
